What Causes Pain In Jaw And Ears And Swollen Lymph Nodes During Pregnancy?

I am 26 years old. I have smoked lightly, less than a pack a day, since I was 20years old. I have barely ever drank but maybe twice a year. Question is, right now im 23 weeks pregnant and two months ago in mid day began having jaw and ear pain on my right side. Could this be oral cancer? I also have swollen lymph nodes, one behind my ear and jaw on the same side as the pain. I have a history of allergies, sinus problems, and ear infections. I ve been checked three times for this within the last two months. Doctors say no ear infection, but say it could be tmj. I also had my top wisdom teeth come in earlier in pregnancy, but no bottom ones yet. Im worrying what it is. Im going to a dentist in a few days to get checked. Just wondering your opinion. Thank you.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of TMJ inflammation. So, in my opinion, there is no reason to worry about it.

I would not recommend performing an X-ray study of the TMJ, because of the risk of radiation. But, blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR) would be helpful!

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
