What Causes Mucus In Stools Of A Child?

My daughter is ten and has had a cold and cough for a few weeks. This week she complained of a sore throat and acute earache. I gave her one adult nurofen tablet because she was in pain and i had nothing else in the house. Today she has whitish yellow mucus in her stool. Do you think this is because of the cold or because of the painkiller

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

But a myriad of multi-system involvement I feel that it could be a viral illness.
Give her only symptomatic treatment like Paracetamol (only if the temperature is more than 100F). Z and D tablets and ORS on as and when required basis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
