Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m not able to concentrate and is having fatigue for more than 10 years. This was noticed when I was 18 year old. During this time I developed eating disorders and was finding difficulty to interact in social gatherings. Though not Medically diagnosed, my father have anxiety disorders.I m now 32 years old and able to cope with eating disorders, but the issues with concentration and fatigue still continues. Please let me know what are the ways to reduce fatigue. Is it due to less oxygen supply to cells. Please advice.
Your symptoms could be suggestive of depression. I don't think that you have low oxygen supply to the brain. I would just recommend checking some blood lab tests in order to exclude a possible metabolic disorder:
- complete blood count for anemia
- thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction
- vitamin D and vitamin B12 plasma levels
- blood electrolytes.
If the above tests result normal, I would recommend considering depression as the main cause underlying your complaints. In such case consulting with a psychotherapist would be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
