What Causes Heart Palpitations And Bouts Of Depression?

Hi for several years I have had chronic insomnia and constant headaces, heart palipitations and bouts of depression. Yet, blood tests do not reveal anything. These symptoms happened immediately after running on a track one night and I felt a rush of adrenaline or fluid in my head and almost passed out. I also experience vertigo sleepless night afterwards.. What could this possibly be?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your problem. The symptoms like you have mentioned palpitations, chronically disturbed sleep, depressive symptoms can occur due to depression or anxiety with panic attacks. Detailed evaluation by a psychiatrist is needed to make proper diagnosis. Your blood work came normal and didnt reveal anything so possibility of anxiety is more.

Visit a psychiatrist for treatment of these symptoms. Medicines like sertraline, escitalopram etc can help to reduce these symptoms and you will feel better. These medicines will also help in good sleep. I would also advise you to get yourself evaluated by a physician and ECG done to rule out any angina or cardiac cause for your symptoms.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
