Does Nitrazepam Help Cope With The Insomnia From The Prednisone?
Hi Doc, My Mom was prescribed Prednisone for an inflammation behind her eye. (We are still trying to figure out the cause. Graves was ruled out) Here is the question: Can she take Nitrazepam to help cope with the insomnia from the Prednisone? What should we be aware of? Thanks.

Nitrazepam belongs to the group of sedative medications known as benzodiazepines that is used in the treatment of severe anxiety, panic disorders, insomnia, seizures etc. On the other hand, Prednisone belongs to the group of medications known as steroids or corticosteroids that is used in the treatment of various inflammatory conditions like arthritis, osteoarthritis, psoriasis, SLE and many more. But like other medications, Prednisone can cause some side effects of its own. It may cause insomnia or sleeping difficulties. As no interactions were found between Nitrazepam and Prednisone, so Nitrazepam can be taken to help cope with insomnia from the Prednisone. But before start taking any medication, your mom should consult her doctor and without her doctor's permission, she should not start taking any medication.
