What Causes Electrical Shock Sensation During Sleep ?
I started experiencing an electrical shock sensation during sleep several weeks ago. I am 51 yr old female. My DR prescribed xanax for nighttime panic attacks, but the shocks continue. I have them every night, several times and if they are particularly bad, I have to catch my breath. Almost like hypervenitilating. Trying to get scheduled for sleep study....any other suggestions?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Besides sleep study, another examination in your case should be a brain and spinal cordMRI. Multiple sclerosis for example may cause such symptoms. Instability in the cervical spine also may cause intermittent symptoms by pinching the spinal cord
