What Causes Constipation After Uterus Removal?
Hi,
I had the left ovary, fallopian tube, and uterus removed on Dec. 16th. Last July of 2012 I had the right side done do to a cyst which turned out to be cancer. I went through chemo. My surgery on Dec 16, 2013 showed no signs of any more cancer! Great news. I have not had a bowel movement yet. I am concerned. I was severely dehydrated after surgery so I was given mass amounts of fluid and gained 12 lbs. in 24 hours. Then I was given something through the IV to decrease the fluid. I have been drinking lots of water. I have lost the extra fluid weight, but I feel urges to have a bowel movement, but nothing yet. I was wondering if I need to be patient on this and give it a few more days or if you had any suggestions?

Hi,
Constipation is common phenomenon after any abdominal surgery. Don't worry, start taking lactose syrup.
