What Causes Blood In Stools Of A Child?

hello sir, pls help me and my child s problem... hello sir, pls help me and my child s problem is stool seen with blood and diagnosed may be due to constipation and straining when he passes his stool and that results in anal tear. my son s age is two years. what will be the reason for this. doctor prescribed laxopeg powder.

Hello,

As you said that your son is having constipation, which is a very common problem in kids, he might face a little tear while passing hardened stools. this might seem like a brigh red colour streaks on stool.

Another cause of blood in stool can be dysentery , but here the blood won’t be bright red and also will be quite foul-smelling. This is caused due to infection.

He might have a fever and stomachache along with this finding. So the best way to cure constipation is to add more fiber in his diet and also at the same time keep a check on hydration. He should be drinking plenty of fluids.

In case you suspect dysentery, please consult your doctor for antibiotics.
