What Causes Absence Of Periods?

I have not had a period for 8 months. Had a blood test done when3 months over stated my hormone count was 5 just had another one done over a month ago said it is now 3. I have just had a light period this week. Does this still mean I am going through menopause and can i get pregnant

Hi,

If you have mentioned your age, obstetric history and the name of the hormone test you have undergone, more accurate answer might have been possible. If you are age is above forty-five years, usually amenorrhea for 6 months can be considered as passable menopause. If the test you mentioned is a blood test for pregnancy measuring serum beta HCG levels, less than 5 indicates the absence of pregnancy, in that sense there is no possibility of pregnancy in your case.

As you had spotting after 8 months better to get evaluated, please consult your gynecologist once, get examined and undergo an ultrasound to measure the endometrial thickness and serum FSH levels can be estimated to find out the possibility of menopause. Further management can be planned according to the results.
