What Are The Uses Of Fluconazole?

I started the flu 2 and a half weeks ago -I was given amoxicillin which I have just finished. The antibiotics were given for a slight urine infection. I now have a pain in my lower back & yellow discharge. The doctor also prescribed fluconazole for thrush. Can you tell me if this lower pain/ discharge will be cured by the Fluconazole? Thanknyou

Hi,

Fluconazole is commonly prescribed to treat fungal infection. Based on the history you seem to have developed vaginal thrush apparently caused by the antibiotic amoxicillin. Yes, fluconazole is effective to eradicate the fungal infection so continue to take it as prescribed.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
