What Are The Side Effects Of Duolin And Budesal?

My daughter seems to have a bronchitis kid of a problem. her pediatrician insists that there is nothing to worry and the problem will disappear after 5 years as by then her immunity will get stronger. she has to be nebulised almost every time the problem occurs, which is once in atleast two months. i used to give her Duolin first and have now started using budesal - how safe are these? I have noted however that she is coping better with it now than when she was younger.

Hi,

Duolin contains levosalbutamol and ipratropium which is used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma. It helps in relaxing the muscles of the air passages and making it easier to breathe. It relieves cough, wheezing and the feeling of breathlessness. Side effects of Duolin are dryness in mouth, breathlessness, tremor, headache, palpitations, muscle cramp, nausea, vomiting, weakness, diarrhoea, dizziness, dyspepsia etc.

Budesal contains levosalbutamol and budesonide which is used to treat bronchial asthma and COPD. It helps in relaxing the muscles of the air passages and making it easier to breathe. Its side effects are hoarness of voice, sore throat, fungal infection of mouth, headache, muscle cramp, nosebleed, nausea, vomiting, bad taste in the mouth, voice changes, dry or irritated throat etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
