What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Having Delayed Periods And Medication To Terminate Pregnancy If Found Pregnant?

hi... i had my periods on 12th dec2013. I had unprotected sex with my husband on 31st Dec2013. My period date this month should be 10th Jan2014. But it has not started till now. I usually have regular periods. So i am little worried. We dont want want to start a family now. pls suggest. I will do the preg color test on 17th if i dont have my periods till that time as my husband is out of station and would come back on 16th. In case of pregnancy which medicine and what dose should i take for safe abortion medically?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pregnancy takes place if conception occurs.
Conception occurs around the time of ovulation.
Ovulation takes place 14 days prior to the day of onset of menstruation.
As you have mentioned that your cycles are normal 28-30 day cycles, there is every possibility that you have conceived.
However, pregnancy can only be confirmed by pregnancy test.
Do not delay the test as it is simple and carried out at home itself.
If pregnancy has occurred, it would 2-3 weeks at this point of time.
There are very safe methods for termination of pregnancy at early stage of pregnancy.
Prostaglandins and progesterones are the group of drugs which can be used at this point of time.
However, it is advisable to consult your gynecologist and take the drug under supervision as side effects like excessive bleeding are known to occur after medical termination of pregnancy.
For timely management, it should always be done under supervision of a specialist.
