What Are The Causes Of Stomach Pain Of A 8 Year Old?

My 8 year old son has been complaining of stomach pain around his belly button for the last 48 hours. He has pain when he walks and he is eating very little. We saw our doctor this morning and he didn t think it was tender enough to be appendicitis. Any suggestions of what it could be or what we should watch for?

Hello. I am sorry your son isn't feeling well. There are 2 possible common causes for his symtpoms. The first is constipation. If he hasn't had a bowel movement in 2-3 days I would offer him fiber rich foods and even consider an enema. The second is a stomach virus. If he has experienced any vomiting or diarrhea, this could be his diagnosis. In this case, be mindful of his hydration and in a few days it will resolve kn its own
