Way Forward After A 5 Yr Old Child Developed Fever After Zental Dosage For Routine De-worming?
Hi,
My daughter is 5yrs old with 17kg weight and we had given zental as part or routine de-worming medicine. The dosage was given on tuesday and Wednesday. Child had mild cold and cough before dosage but no medication. From Saturday evening she started getting fever. Took her to nearest pediatric for investigation but forgot to inform about zental dosage because 3 days had already passed by. The doctor prescribed alaspan-ag and crocin. The fever got increased to 104f on sunday. Being sunday we Consulted doctor over phone for throat infection and fever who suggested Azi100 for with crocin 250mg and sos of meftal. Monday morning again the fever increased to 104f. Visited doc on monday with same complaints but missed to inform about zental again. Today- tuesday morning again she has high fever- while searching through reasons for fever on internet we came across to the side effect of zental. The symptoms had exact match. We have given suppositories - suppol 170mg to reduce fever. Shall be visiting doctor again in morning 10am. Until then, can someone advice way forward?

Zentel side effects are rare !
Weakness , infections are reported.
However I feel your child has to be investigated for other causes of fever mainly and this Should be a diagnosis of exclusion.
You also mentioned that she had cold and cough before you gave medication
Again in future do not use routine dewormimg! Test the stool and also take all precautions like boiling drinking water,avoiding raw old in restaurants etc
