Took Antibiotics For Slight Pneumonia In Right Lung. Low Energy Levels, An Alcoholic. Any Concerns ?
Hi, My queston is about my daughter who has a slight cause of pnemonia in her right lung. She has been taking the antibiotics she was given and sounds better, but her energy level was better but now worse aganin. She is an alcoholic who has been drinking at least some of this time.l What should my concerns be? She does not live with us so I am only talking with her on the phone.
Hi thanks for your question.
Patient having pneumonia on antibiotic complaining of low energy level. It is expected in patient of pneumonia to have low energy level. When ever there is infection of any part of body, lots of toxins are releaes in body which cause fever on one hand and increasing the metabolic activity of body on other hand.Fever itself increases metabolic activities which increases requirement of enenrgy..That is why person with infection feel low energy level.Lungs are very vitals organs of body and their infection effects the body two folds. One effects of toxins described above and second transport of oxygen is effected in lungs infection which is very very impotant for energy.Spikes of feeling low energy level in between will occur till infection is completely controlled.Theses are due to liberation of toxins at different time of day.
Hope this answers your question.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Usually the course of treatment of pneumonia is 14 days , however it depends upon the causative organism( bacteria or viral). Infection in itself lowers the immunity . Once she will recover from pneumonia , she will again gain energy and immunity will increase. Besides this you can advice her high protein diet for energy and immunity. Good luck for your daughter. Dr. HET
