Taking Medication For Irregular Periods. Trying To Conceive. Will This Medicines Effect On Becoming Pregnant?

Hi
I am a mother of three and half year old baby.I was having regular periods and normal bleeding.Last year i had irregular periods. My gynec adviced me for a TSH test, along with insulin and prolactin. The result was not normal, according to the reference range given, she also said that this was the cause of me gaining weight also.I started using tablets, after few months i underwent another series of same tests and found that all were normal. Now my gynec asked me to stop all tablets. Then my periods were also normal. We thought of having another baby,we tried but in vain.Last month i missed my periods, but found that am not pregnant and now my gynec has prescribed me duphaston 10mg twice daily.she said it will help in getting my periods, after which she has asked me to go again forTSH ,insulin and prolactin tests.
My questions are,Will duphaston cause any side effects?Should I lose my weight to get coceived?can you prescribe me any tablets for losing my weight?(am not able to exercise because of my knee problem)is my age a cocern(am 33yrs old)?also can you advice some tips for me to get coceived?will these hormonal changes have any effect on my pregnancy or in getting pregnant?
Thanks and Regards

Dear user, welcome to healthcare magic.
Duphaston is usually tolerable with minimal side effects unless you are hypersensitive to it's components, a very rare case.
Definitely loosing weight and optimizing your BMI (body mass index) may improve your ovulation and your periods will be regular.
Loosing weight should be under the supervision of a dietician. Pills alone are not enough.
The fertility curve starts to decline after the age of 35, so you are still young to be concerned about your age.
Your chances of pregnancy will be affected if the hormone levels are not within the normal ranges.
I hope these words were useful to you.
Good luck.
Dr. Ahmed Bahaa.
