Taking Eltroxine For Thyroid Problem. Symptoms Persisting. Have Acidity And Gas Problem. Advice?

Hi! This is Jayanta. First test of TSH found around 9. Doctor given Eltroxine-50 ( 1 tab )for 3 months. Test result after 3 months TSH was 0.013. Doctor ask me to stop for using Etroxine for one month. Test result after end of 1 month TShH is again around 9. Then Doctor given me Eltroxine 25 for 1 month, the Thyronorm25 (1+1/2) Tab for 1 monrh then to continue for 1 tab Thyronorm25. But after one month of using Eltroxine-25(daily 1tab) when I started the Thyronorm Doses after 1week I am suffering same problem as I was facing when my TSH was around 9. I am facing now bowl problem with gass, acidity etc. Pls advise me.

Hi Jayanta

It seems your thyroid levels are still not under control. I would advice you to get done Anti-TPO antibody which would tell us the nature of the thyroid problem you are having. We need to know what it the cause of your thyroid problem first before blindly start treatment with thyroxine.

As far as your symptoms are concerned, most of it will normalize once we have the thyroid levels under proper range. However, acidity need not be related to thyroid problem. I would advice you to take a proton pump inhibitor like Pantoprazole for 8 weeks for your acidity. Any nearby doctor can prescribe you the same.
