Hi,
Noted your query, it is indeed difficult in many cases to differentiate between the angina pain and acidity pain.
Proper history, clinical evaluation and relevant investigations will prove the diagnosis.
History of the pain of angina is over the heart area, comes and goes, is unrelated to food or so.
The acidity related pain is usually burning sensation, increases with some foods and beverages. If GERD is also present then the
stress and
anxiety may increase it.
Upper GI
Endoscopy and acid measurement in form of Ph will help to know the diagnosis.
For Angina related pain full cardiac evaluation by a Cardiologist can say about the possibility along with relief with some medications prove to be angina-like
Sorbitrate which will not help in acidity pain.
It is also necessary to rule out
costochondritis which is a common problem and usually not diagnosed.
Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
