Suggest When To Use A Birth Control Pill

Hello, I have a question about my birth control pill, Marvelon 21.
I have not been taking the pill for a month now and decided to restart taking it. My period is not due for another day or two but I have already taken my first pill today. I realise this is not ideal - should I wait for my period to come (will it still come?) to continue taking the rest of my cycle of pills or should I continue to take the pills as normal (and if so, do I have to use additional contraception and for how long?)
Many thanks for your advice!
