Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes On My Groin Area

Hi Dr.Grief, A prickly itchy rash started on my left groin yesterday morning so applied some Melagel about 3 times through the day, but did not improve, so this morning changed to Polysporin antibiotic ointment. After applying 3 times through to-day, it is worse and spread to the right groin. Would you please recommend something that would help.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Probably you have developed a superficial fungal infection.
Your description is suggestive of that.
Polysporin and other medication used by you are antibiotic.
These might not be helpful.
I treat such cases with a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole to be applied twice daily for a month.
You can try this in consultation with your doctor.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
I find this answer helpful
