Suggest Treatment For Diarrhea
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...My 15 yr old son has had severe black pure water diarrhea for last 7 days with sparce vomiting first few days. Then last night up throwing up that contained blood clot looking things in it and blood. He also suffers from painful Heartburn and burning in throat for probably last 6-8 months. dont know if it relates but just a little background. He drinks only water for the most part, is not a sweet eater but neither a vegtable eater either. Has been very irritable last several months and tired often. Stomach pain accompaning the above symptons and felling badly, not getting out of bad for to much and has missed last wk of school and today. What are some ideas of what it could be? I really dont think stomach bug at all. Since birth always had bowel movement prob. but with constipation, vey large bowel movements that adult couldnt pass. This first time in his life ever with diarrhea. Thanks So Much!

Hello,
Black watery stool, altered vomitus and a blood clot in it along with the history of heartburn and so on indicate that your son has severe gastritis with an ulcer that is bleeding causing the black stools called as Malena. I would advise you the following in such a situation:
-Take him to the emergency room for urgent upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy to know the exact cause and get the treatment to stop bleeding.
-To have tests of stool.
-Tests of blood may need a blood transfusion as there is so much blood loss.
-Intravenous fluid, further evaluation under the care of a gastroenterologist and further management with PPI, antacids, and treatment of H pylori as needed.
-Rush him to the emergency room or nearest hospital immediately.
