Hi,

Sazo (500mg) is sulfasalazine which is known as Disease Modifying Anti - Rheumatic Drugs or DMARDs in therapeutic class used for rheumatoid arthritis or mild inflammatory arthritis. It takes time to work. Patient will start to get positive feedbacks from this medication at 4-8 weeks and maximum results at 3-6 months. You can stop taking this drug at any time, no tapering is needed. But, beneficial effects of this medication that you have got from this drug , will be subsided at 6 weeks after stopping to consume.

Sulfasalzine has its own side effects like allergic reaction, lower blood counts or pancytopenia, GIT irritation like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, tiredness, urine may become orange or yellow in colour, liver damage, oligospermia (low sperm count) , weight loss etc. A patient with sulfasalzine, should undergo for investigations like blood counts and liver tests between every two weeks to every three months.

Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.
