Suggest Risk Of High TSH Level
I undergone through CABG in dec 2012. After that my TSH levels got effected. Thyroid range should b below 5 but mine was 10.2. My doctor suggested me the medicine and recently when I got the tests again my T4 and TSH is normal but Anti TPO result is more than 1300. What are the risk for me with regards to the same?

Thank you for asking on HCM! I read carefully your report.
High AntiTPO antibodies with high TSH level mean that there is an autoimmune process that destroys the thyroid gland and as a result its function is lowered (hypothyroidism). High AntiTPO antibodies confirm the autoimmune etiology.
The treatment consist to substitute the hormone that can't be produced by the thyroid gland, if the TSH is corrected with the dose that your doctor recommended, you do not have any risk.
All you have to do is to check the thyroid hormone level every 6 months in order to insure that you are taking the right dose of levothyroxine.
