Suggest Remedy For High Cholesterol

I am 23 years old male. 4 months back i got tested for cholesterol and my levels were: TGL: 210, LDL: 82 and HDL: 47, during that time i was having a poor lifestyle. My weight was 82Kgs (height 174 cm) with no exercise and poor diet with lots of junk and occasional chicken intake (about once in 10days). Although we have a tendency of borderline cholesterol in our family, it only occurs after the age of 60. Now 4 months later, my levels are TGL: 106, LDL: 89 and HDL: 49 with my weight: 69Kgs. I have not made any drastic changes in my lifestyle or food, just added 40mins exercise (running/jogging). I have not tried any weight loss programs, just substituted 1 meal each day by salads and giving up non-veg food completely. Now I am concerned if this could just be a temporary thing or is it now so that i have a tendency and my levels can shoot up anytime? Is this anything to do with the family tendency, or can this be explained by lifestyle issues? Can this happen without a family tendency as well? I am worried because my insurance company and doctor got me alarmed.

Yes, besides heredity, lifestyle factors and poor eating habits also cause high cholesterol and triglycerides which can affect heart health adversely.

Even a small change in your diet and lifestyle can improve your lipid profile. As you say that you have started exercising for 40 minutes, given up non-veg and have added salads to your daily diet, surely these changes have worked well for you. This should be enough for you to stay motivated to eat healthy and be active. If you continue like this you will have better health and improved stamina. Even if you have a family history of dyslipidemia or hyperlipidemia, you can control it through healthy eating and an active lifestyle. You are in the right direction. Continue exercising and increase intake of fibre in daily diet by having raw vegetable salads, whole grain cereals and whole fruits. You can have lean meat, skinless chicken, fish and eggwhites if you wish to but avoid fried and oily forms of foods.
