On my last day of vacation (lots of swimming/beach time and sex) I noticed the symptoms of a UTI. This was also about the last day of my period, and since I was already uncomfortable I decided not to reinsert the Nuvaring I use for birthcontrol. I called my doctor, did a urine test, got antibtiotics. I'm allergic to sulfas and penicillian, so I was given Cipro for 7 days. It's been 5 days since I've been off the antibiotic. No more painful urination or obvious blood in the urine. However, since starting the antibiotics I've noticed an odor (which I've never experienced with previous UTIs) and spotting (brown blood which presume is just old blood shedding, possibly). I've never experienced an odor before with or with UTI/antibiotics. I'm 38 and generally healthy. I intend to make an appointment to see my doctor, but I am curious, what are the possible causes of this odor?
