Suggest Medication For Ear Infection

My 2 1/2 year old daughter was on Amoxicillin for an ear infection. On day 8 of her taking the medication (yesterday) she developed a severe itchy red bumped rash all over her entire body from her scalp to the bottoms of her feet. I saw a pede doctor this morning who Said its not associated with the amoxicillin but probably a viral infection. Since getting home I have done a ton of research linking amoxicillin with skin rashes. What can be done for her to alleviate the pain, how long will this rash last and do you think the two are related? She hasn't had any amoxicillin today and ive thrown out the bottle. Her ear is entirely cleared up. Thank you!

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have ear infection which seems to be due to fungal infection, wax build up, fluid accumulation, eustachian tube dysfunction and systemic disease infection. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles , take steam twice a day and apply warm dry compresses to external ear . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may examine by otoscopic means to check level of infection. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for a week along with decongestants. Put Otogesic ear drops. You should go for audiometer testing as well to check hearing level.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
