As he has been in pain and is unable to even drink water and this means that there is dehydration it is important to start intravenous fluids and give anti vomiting medication. His blood electrolytes are also important and it might take a day or two to stabilize his condition. Once he is stable, you can get a consultation from an oncologist and then depending on the present condition, treatment can be started with chemotherapy. Usually liver cancers are not operated up on unless it is in early stage. There are also other techniques like TACE which might be use to reduce the tumor volume. Pain relief is important and you might discuss the pain relief measures in detail with his doctor.
