Suggest If Removal Of Necrotic Ovary Part Necessary?
Hi there, I have a question about ovarian torsions. I was in hospital for pain in abdomen which was a suspected cyst. Then got an internal scan which showed possible torsion. I should have been operated on as I was informed at a later scan to check up on cysts. My ovary was able to be located on scans during this check up. The lady who scanned me said was my ovarian pedicle was visable (yet that appeared to be all that was visable) I am due back soon for the appointment to find out what is best to do now. My question is : Do you think I will need to have any necrotic ovary part out or is it safe to leave it in there? I have not found any information suggesting it is safe to leave dead tissue/anything like this inside however I am feeling fine and torsion took place approx 7 months ago. Thanks, Grainne aged 34
After 7 months, the necrotic part will not remain in the body. If there are no symptoms, the part was either cleared by the body's defenses or it got untwisted [ happens sometimes in partial torsion].
If no cyst is visible on ultrasound and you are symptom free, there is no need to do anything now.
Do not worry as the trouble has disappeared.
