Suggest Alternative To Happi Pills For Acidity

My husband took Happi pills in India for heartburn and was quite impress by it....we live in Canada and are wondering what medication will be similar to that Happi pill. He takes Pantaloc here in Canada to treat the heartburn but has undesirable side effects. Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Happi pills contain the active ingredient rabeprazole, which belongs to a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). PPIs are commonly used to treat heartburn, acid reflux, and other related gastrointestinal conditions.

There are several other PPIs available in Canada that are similar to rabeprazole and may be effective for treating heartburn. Some examples include:
- Omeprazole (Prilosec)
- Esomeprazole (Nexium)
- Lansoprazole (Prevacid)
- Pantoprazole (Pantoloc)

It is important to note that different people may respond differently to different PPIs, and what works for one person may not work for another. Additionally, all PPIs carry a risk of side effects, and it is important to discuss any concerns with your doctor.

If your husband is experiencing undesirable side effects with Pantaloc, he may wish to discuss alternative treatment options with his doctor. Depending on the underlying cause of his heartburn, there may be non-pharmacological approaches or other medications that could be effective.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
