Small Child, Passes Excessive Gas, Fever, Loss Of Appetite. Prescribed Ibuprofen. Treatment Options?

I have an 18mth old he farts and has had a fever from 104 to normal and we went to the dr and he is clear of flu rsv bronchitis and other infections that can be swabbed also ear infections. He has no appetite but has no problem drinking or eating yogurt or applesauce. The doctor in the ER ( pediatrician ) said she thought it was a virus and to just treat with Ibuprofen and Tylenol. His dr is closer until Wednesday.

Hi,
your doctor is correct in asking you to observe the child with fever medicines only.
As you are aware the antibiotics have no effect on viruses.
Give good amount of fluids and give ibuprofen after food.
Watch the child closely and if there is persistent fever after 5-6days,you can get the child reassessed by the doctor.
Good luck
