Should I Be Worried About The Stomach Swelling After Abortion?

(18 yr old female 5'9" and about 190 pounds) is it normal for your stomach to continue to swell after a surgical abortion? if so, how long should this be expected? and how long will pregnancy symptoms last after the abortion? (abortion occured 2 days ago. i was 7 weeks pregnant.)

Hi,
You can experience symptoms of pregnancy so long as the pregnancy hormone levels persist and decline as they fall. Fullness of the stomach could be due to the withdrawal effects of hormones or as a side effect of the medications used during the procedure. Swelling of the stomach otherwise is not common and therefore proper evaluation needs to be done if this continues to persist. Please maintain genital hygiene and avoid intercourse until another week or two and after proper regular contraception is initiated. Hope this helps.
