Should I Visit A Doctor If My Child Develops Fever At 4 Am And Feels Better Rest Of The Day After Taking Motrin?

My 5 year old has had a fever the past two days at 4:00 am in the very early morning. The first time this happened, he throwed up too, but after the Motrin takes effect, he is fine the rest of the day. Should I take him to the pediatrician or does this sound like a virus?

Hi

If there are no other symptoms and he is active and playful as before, you need not worry. It might be a virus.

You may give him Paracetamol or Motrin every 6 hrs. Give him fluids in plenty.

Viral fevers usually take 4 to 5 days to get okay.

How ever if fever persists for a longer time or he is dull and lethargic or he is irritable or he is not drinking well, please do not hesitate to visit your doctor.

Hope my answer helps.
Wish your son good health.
