Severe Vaginal Itching, Cuts And Slits In Vaginal Area Due To Itching. On Contraceptive Pills. Side Effects?

Hello, I just arrived home from a festival and didn't have a shower for 3 days, I came home and I had vaginal itching, I was worried it was the lack of hygiene but it's got worse over the past few days and have now got cuts and 'slits' in the vaginal reigion probably due to the itching (which was unbarable) I am on the pill for contricpetive reasons and also wondered whether that is a possible side effect even though it isn't stated on the leaflet? Please can you give me some advice as soon as, thank you!!

Welcome to HCM.
Don't worry,it is not the side effect of oral pills. It looks to be fungal infection due to improper hygiene.
You can apply anti fungal/anti bacterial cream.
Take complete course of oral anti fungal like flucanazole-150.
Start oral tablet levocetrizine to subside itching and nsaid to subside pain and inflammation.
Take proper local care, use antiseptic soap to clean, avoid tight under garment, avoid sex till get complete cure.
Get examined by gynecologist for better diagnosis and perfect medical management.

HIV AIDS Specialist Dr. Sankaranantham Murugan's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Yes, you are absolutely correct.
Contraceptive tablets will induce or predispose an yeast infection.
Now you are having vulvo-vaginitis due to yeast. The symptoms explained by you confirms the same. It can be confirmed with certain tests in laboratory. If you consult you physician or gynecologist they will be able to cure you easily with very good anti-fungal antibiotics by mouth and with external applications.
Get well soon.

OBGYN Dr. Rubee Khattar's  Response
Hi Dear,
Symptoms told by you match with that of severe vaginal infection.
These infections are associated with vaginal discharge, severe itching, vaginal discharge with or without foul smell.
Constant itching in genitals leads to abrasion visible to you as small cuts
There are many causes and poor genital hygiene is one. May be not taking bath for 3 days may have resulted in infection.
Nothing to worry. It is easily treatable. Just go and consult a gynae and take prescribed treatment
