Reason For Not Having Proper Periods And Getting Pregnant?

Questions about PCOS! A little backstory first... I was diagnosed with PCOS as 17 (Now 23) Got pregnant with my daughter at 19, my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant again for over 2 years with one miscarriage a few months ago on dec 30. I have been on Metformin for about a year and a half and I m currently up to 2000mg. I got my first period on feb 13th and it was pretty normal. No period since. I started spotting very light on april 19th and just assumed I was getting a period. Nope! 2 full weeks of mostly brown spotting with a few drops of red. I ve been cramping and having breast tenderness on and off for about a month. Mood swings, fatigue, etc...I have an appt with my doc in a week (its damn near impossible to get an appt there if you arent pregnant!) And I came down with flu like symptoms this past weekend that only lasted a day, which happened both times before I found out I was expecting (crazy, I know) I m trying to stay away from the preg tests because every negative pushes the knife in deeper, but I took one today and no surprise it was negative. Any insight?

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, I would like to say that you have taken a right decision in past to get married at a young age and this is the outcome of your young age marriage (you are already having a baby). I being a doctor always suggests my patient with PCOS to get married as early as possible because PCOS causes infertility and irregular periods. You should continue to take metformin. I wouldn't say you can't conceive again but there are very fewer chances of conceiving.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
