Radiating Pain From Breast To Hand. History Of Biopsy. Medication For Pain Management?
I had biopsy done two years agoon the right breast. My breast is not peaceful since then. For the past 8 months I am in deep pain most of the days. I feel that it could be because of the clips. When I went for the biopsy this year the radiologist wanted me to go for another biopsy saying that he sees a cluster of calsification. I refused. I truly feel that I did the greatest mistake of my life by going in for one biopsy. I am in pain. The pain (nerve pain) travels to my right hand also. Feel like crying on top of the world.
The condition that you describe is typical of nerve entrapment in a suture that must have been taken at the time of the previous biopsy. If the pain is not relieved on painkillers then you need to get a block. In this the surgeon will infiltrate a local anesthetic around the biopsy scar. If this relieves the pain temporarily then he will infiltrate a steroid or alcohol around the scar which will destroy the affected nerve and relieve your pain forever. The more important part however is the cluster of calcification that your radiologist has seen. That is a sign of cancer and needs to be biopsied. Instead of an open biopsy you can undergo a needle biopsy which will not give you any problem.
