Prescribed Thyronorm For High TSH Level During Pregnancy. Will It Affect The Fetus?
Hi doctor, Currently I m 31 weeks pregnant. I m a hypothyroid patient since past 2 years and was on medication Thyroxin 50 mcg with regular GP. However after I became pregnant and was tested for thyroid result were TSH 19 at week 7(thyroxin 100 mcg) and then TSH 12 at week 11 (thyroxin 125 mcg) adjusted by OB. Thereafter I started referring to an endocronologist who put me on thyronorm 150mcg and my TSH was down to 2 at week 15. Subsequently monthly tests are showing normal range with regular follow-up and dosage adjustments. From what I have been reading, I see that it should have been normalised in the first trimester itself as it affect s the baby s development. Can you please let me know if there s some tests that can be carried out asap (or new-born screenings) to know if baby has been negatively affected by this ? We want to ensure best possible care for baby once she is born so that it does not cause issues in later life.
