Pregnant, Swelling In Legs, Prescribed Ditide, Full Body Itching Started. SI Ti The Side Effect ?

Hello Doctor,
This is AAAA here.
I am 37 weeks pregnant now. I had swelling in my legs. I showed it to doctor and doctor gave me medicines.
first it did not affect so changed and gave me other one called ditide ones. Swelling has gone completely and full body itching has been started and it is really v worst. Full body has been peeled out. Did blood test and urine test again. everything normal. Can you suggest me whether it is really side effect of ditide tablets or something else. I still having some other medicines given by doctor and applying oinments...

Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Some amount of physiological swelling of the dependent parts is normal in pregnancy.
That can progress with increasing gestational age.
By taking rest, elevating the food end, sleeping in left lateral position this edema can be decreased.
Better to avoid ditide tablets in pregnancy. Skin rash is one side effect of the tablet.
Itching can also be due to stretching of the collagen fibers in the skin due to growing uterus. Soothing and moisturizer creams can help in relieving these itching.
