Thanks for the query in the forum. As you are pregnant. I can expect that your pericoronitis is related to your third molar. If you crossed the age of 25 there is a remote chance that this tooth will erupt in your mouth. It has to be removed after your delivery. As per your present suffering Mouth wash and flushing under our operculum will not reduce your pain because that is due to Infection rather inflammation process inside the tissue around your tooth. YOU HAVE TAKE A COURSE OF ANTIBIOTIC. Amoxicillin 500mg+ Potassium clavulanate( Clavulanic acid) 125 mg 8 hourly for 5 to 7 days can safely taken in pregnancy. An analgesc like Paracetamol 650 mg or 1gm can also be taken for pain relieving. A warm salt water( one level tea spoon slat in one glass of warm water) mouth wast will also be beneficial. Use this medicine after consulting your gynecologist..You will get releived soon. Best wishes.

Hi
Welcome to HCM forum,
As you said that your doctor has cleaned the area below operculum but pain does not susides.
Ask your dentist to place a thin cotton pellet soaked in local anaesthetic agent under the operculum after flushing it.
It will give you relief.
Follow antibiotic prescription and maintain good oral hygiene.
Do warm saline rinses after every meal and use antiseptic mouthwash.
Take care

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

Please mention your trimester of pregnancy.if you are in second trimester it is relatively safe to get the dental treatment done, else you will have to prolong it.

Also seek your gynecologists opinion before taking any medication.paracetamol is safe and you can take them.

Meanwhile do warm saline rinsing after each meal and also do antiseptic mouth rinsing.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

hello
if cleaning the area around the tooth( must be third molar) does not solve your problem. you can take medicines - antibiotics amoxicillin + potassium clavunate & paracetamol as pain killer.both of them are safe in pregnancy. if its your second trimester you can go for removal of the operculum i.e: operculectomy. it is safe during second trimester. otherwise wait till your delivery. you can also start warm saline rinses. that will surely help. take complete course of antibiotics for 5-7 days. also consult your gynecologist about this.
hope this helps....
all the best

hi...
thanks for the query...
i can understand you condition... you please go for warm saline rinses 6-7 times a day...
visit your dentist again for irrigation and request him to make the inflamed area out of occlusion by slightly grinding the tooth in opposite arch...
also take anti inflammatory drugs like paracetamol and antibiotic like ampicillin... they are safe in pregnancy...
all these things will definitely make you feel better... go for extraction after your pregnancy...
take care...

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I would suggest you to start with the course of antibiotics and analgesics concerning your OBGYN.
Take lukewarm saline rinses 3-4 times a day to give a soothing effect.
Take antiseptic mouthwash rinses, or betadine gargles.
After the delivary of the child you can plan for the extraction of the tooth.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this helps out.

Regards..

Dentist Dr. Bindiya Bhaskar's  Response
HELLO,
The flap overlying tooth can be incised and removed after consulting with your dentist.
This will relieve pain temporarily.
Its better to extract the tooth after delivery.
You can take plain killers to relive pain.Gargle with warm saline frequently.
Take care.
