Prediabetic With A Recent HbA1c Of 7.1, Usually Have Low Sugar Attack. Any Advice ?

I am prediabetic with a recent HbA1c of 7.1, am 30 lbs overweight, age 67. I notice that I feel better if I eat a handful of walnuts, and two servings of fruit for breakfast rather than any cereal, bread product. With the latter I usually have a" low sugar attack" by 10:30 AM, gorge myself to compensate, then feel malaise for hours. Any advice or comment? AAAAA ret. neurologist

Hello Doctor, Thanks for using HCM.

In elderly age group guidelines does not recommend for strict glucose control. HbA1c 7.1 is good if reduced based on previous values. You can gradually control your sugar level. Consult your nutritionist for total calorie intake and its division. No food is contraindicated but is restricted in diabetes. You can do exercise with diet and drugs for control of sugar levels and weight.
Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for examination and management. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

DEAR SIR/MADAM

IF YOU ARE HAVING EPISODES OF HYPOGLYCEMIA FOLLOWED BY HYPERGLYCEMIA DUE TO IMPROPER DOSAGE OF MEDICINES, YOUR AVERAGE HBA1C WILL BE HIGH.

SO GET A PROPER BASELINE CONTROL OF SUGARS, KEEP THE TARGETS LITTLE BIT RELAXED AS PATIENT IS ELDERLY.

THANKS

since your HbA1c IS 7.1, I fell you are frank diabetic, kindly start on oral hypoglycemic drugs like metformin, and continue the dietary modifications, also do whatever physical activity possible.
