Positive Pregnancy Test. Pelvic Scan Done. What Does Findings Suggest?
Pls I went 4 a Pregnancy test it was postive (blood) but did a pelvic scan and this is d result. The uterus is anteverted and non-gravid with uniform myometrial echopattern measuring about 93mmx44mmx61mm in AP dimension. The endometrial appear thickened but no evidence of gestation seen on scan yet. The adnexa and ovaryes appear normal, no fluid in p.o.d. Conclusion Acyesis. Please explan thanks
thank you for your query. this basically means that your uterus is in the normal position, with normal texture and dimensions (93mmn * 44mm * 61mm). there is some thickening of the tissue (endometrium, which sloughs off during menstruation), but there is no evidence of any gestation sac (i.e. the embryo or its covering). the sorrounding tissues including ovaries appear normal. there is no free fluid in the cavity behind uterus (pouch of douglas- p.o.d.). the conclusion is absence of pregnancy (acyesis). this contradictory finding occurs if the pregnancy test is false positive. i would suggest you to consult your gynaecologist for further needful. Hope i've been able to satisfy your query. please feel free to contact me for any further clarifications. best of luck.
Hi! Welcome to HCM! Acyesis means absence of pregnancy.your scan findings suggest absence of pregnancy. Possibility of false positive pregnancy test is there,False positive test results may occur due to errors of test application, use of drugs containing the hcG, and non-pregnant production of the hcG molecule.
A woman who has been given an hCG injection as part of infertility treatment will test positive on pregnancy tests that assay hCG, regardless of her actual pregnancy status My advice is to get the pregnancy test repeated. hope this will help you!
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Acyesis means absence of pregnancy, your scan shows there is no pregnancy but your blood test shows positive result so in my opinion you should wait for another 2 weeks and repeat ultrasonography test to be done and serial HCG level should be done. Good luck. Regards Dr. Richa
