Persistent Cough For 2 Weeks, Cough Up Phlegm. Is It Fungal Infection ?

I ve had this persistent cough for the past two weeks now, I also cough up this clear, sometimes whitish bubbly glue like phlegm . I ve finished a bottle of cough mixture and I ve been drinking lots of water and tea and all the usual home remedies, yet I can t seem to shake it. I have no wheezing , breathing is fine yet I still cough up this phlegm, I ve also noticed my skin becoming a lot more oilier since getting this cough. Just wondering if it could be a fungal infection , as I did have a pot plant (bamboo palm) right next to my bed. Any answer would be much appreciated.

Dear friend, welcome and thanks for entrusting your query here at HCM!
I am Dr. Prasad Akole (Critical Care Expert- http://bit.ly/Dr-Prasad-Akole) and am glad to address to your query here.

It is unlikely a fungal infection. It usually causes curdy flakes if candida or blackish flakes if aspergillus.
But since it is persistent since 2 weeks despite cough remedies, I would advise a visit to your doctor to get evaluated.
Only physical examination can tell if there is anything significant.
If you have no fever, breathlessness, purulent (pus like) phlegm, it is unlikely infective.

I hope you are fully satisfied with the guidance I gave.
I would be glad to answer any further queries. May I request you to rate your experience here before you close.
Thank you and Good luck!
