Painful Lump On Top Of Head, White On Top Surrounded By Redness, Knot In Front Of Left Ear. Cure For Symptoms?
I have a very painful lump on the (left of center) top of my head (which, after looking at several sites, I'm not sure, now, is it my head, scalp, etc....it's on the top of my head/scalp?? I don't know how, don't remember hitting it, however, it is VERY Painful to touch it or around it, brush my hair....in fact, it hurts constantly! It looks white on top the area, yet, surrounded by redness. I've had it for a few days, but it keeps getting larger and more painful, everyday. Today, I also noticed a knot in front of my left ear and a swelling on the left side of my forehead. My forehead is not sore, however, the knot in front of my ear, is. I can't find any answers to the related inquires I've googled?? Can you please answer at your earliest convenience? Thank you, so much!

Thx for your query. The lump described sounds like a scalp infection. it is likely to be an infection of the hair follicle probably following scratching or due to excess dandruff. The swelling in front of the ear could be an infected lymph node due to the infection of the skin of the scalp. You could try using any of the over the counter antibacterial/ antifungal shampoos. If not better, a physician should be consulted. Hope this helps.
