Painful Feelings On Face, Swelling On Roof Of Mouth, Severe Headache Since Sinus Surgery, Sinus Problem Ruled Out. Help?

One year ago I started having severe pain in the left side of my face. My ENT thought it best to perform surgery on my sinuses. After the procedure I was a totally new person. No pain or discomfort. Then 3 months later i started having severe pain on the left side of my face along with a burning on the left side of my nose . I get these painful feelings in my face and the roof of my mouth swells only on the left side and my cheek starts to have shooting pain which then causes a severe headache . My ENT said it wasn’t a sinus problem, it was neurological. But my neurologist cannot figure it out. I am tired of living in pain and no one seems to be able to help.

hello and welcome to HCM,

I have understood your concern and let us see what we can do to get you a relief

Since you have mentioned that your problems became better after surgery and then it got worse it is clear that your sinuses may have been cleared first and then got blocked to give you your present symptoms.

This is very common after surgery when patients do not come for follow up or rarely when the ENT does not do and endoscopic cleaning during the visits.
Endoscopic cleaning is actually a very important part of the treatment of the sinuses and even the alkaline nasal lavage cleaning which you are supposed to perform is very important.

So meet your ENT or another one to ask about endoscopic nasal cleaning and alkaline lavage and do that regularly. Also take a course of anti biotic like amox-clav combination in doses of 625 mg along with an anti histamine. Your doctor will know about these.

Also do steam inhalation, and learn the breathing exercises to clear your sinuses.
If you do not feel better then you may need to repeat your CT and share the findings with me so that i can help you out better

take care and get well soon
