Pain In The Eye, Cold, Fever, Headache And Cough. Is This Flu?

I have a bad cold and I have eye pain when I look left and right. I have a fever of 99.4 so not too bad. But I have a cough and feel really fatigued. This shouldn t be the flu or an infection right? I feel better with Motrin and am taking mucinex. My head feels pressured and partial headache . This is my 3-4th day in. How much longer should I stay home from work? Thank you very much! Amanda

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Based on the information provided it seems like you are having flu along with sinus issue called "SINUSITIS."

Sinusitis has the different cause like it can be due to:
• Allergy
• Some infection of sinuses
• Autoimmune disorders

Mostly, the headache and pressure you are facing is commonly seen in infective type of sinusitis hence, you will also have postnasal dripping and fever with pain on touch around the forehead and side of nose area.

Advice:
CONSULT physician, he will prescribe the antibiotic to make it go away sooner, even though it will go away on its own but will take longer time to come back to normal, moreover there are chances of other complications.
Meanwhile, inhaling steam therapy may help to open up sinuses and help to breathe with ease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jay Patel
