Old Male, Diagnosed With BPH, Taking Fenesteride, Having Frequent Urination Problems, Burning Sensation. Reason?
I m a 67 year old male diagnosed with BPH . I have been taking Tamsulosin (4mg daily) for a few years and recently started taking Fenesteride(5mg). I have been having frequent urination problems and a burning sensation for the past week. I do not experience the burning sensation every time I urinate. Could this be a side effect of the Fenesteride? Prior to taking the Fenesteride I was having urinary blockage problems and had to be catheterized at the ER. It seems its either feast or famine. Frankly I would rather deal with the frequent urination.
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. B P H is enlarged prostate , earlier you were taking tamsulosin , now fenasteride . The main aim of these drugs to decrease the size of prostate . Frequent urination is not due to fenasteride , rather it is benign prostate hyperplasia ( BPH) responsible for frequent urination. As fenasteride is not acting , in my opinion only one option is there get in surgery. In my opinion consult a surgeon and get its surgery. Good luck. Dr. HET
