Old Age. Swelling In Scrotum. Can Anything Subside The Swelling?

My 70 year old husband has a very swollen scrotum and from what I can tell, it's not his testicles... it's the scrotum itself. Swollen to the size bigger than my two fists. He says there is no pain and it's barely sensitive - I'm not sure if he's telling the truth. He refuses to see a doctor or go to the E.R. Is there anything I can do to bring the swelling down while I try to talk him in to a doctor visit? Thank you.

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You have to persuade your husband to get examined by a surgeon. There is no other way.
Swelling may be hydrocele or hernia.
It has to be confirmed by clinical examination and USG.
Treatment also doesn't require long hospital stay.
Hydrocele can only be treated by surgery where as treatment of hernia can be conservative or surgical depending upon conditions.

Take Care
