I do not know your age, but it is not uncommon as women age to have prolapse of some part of the
pelvic floor. Childbirth, heredity, gravity and abdominal pressure can all contribute. Lay term include "fallen bladder" which is when the bladder pushes out the anterior vagina, and is the most common form of prolapse. The mid compartment is
uterine prolapse and posteriorly the small or large bowel can push out the vagina.
Because the vagina is a moist and delicate tissue, unlike the exterior
vulva, it is irritated when outside. That is what causes the discharge. The history of the problem resolving overnight when off your feet is common, but also doesn't last. As in your case, symptoms progress. If you are in a large town pelvic floor
physical therapy may help. There are mechanical supports called pessaries and finally there are surgical repairs, similar to
hernia repairs in other areas. Your local doctor can review your treatment options. Sex will not worsen your condition, though if the tissue is irritated, it will likely be uncomfortable.
