Night Sweats, Palpitations, Lump On The Neck. Concerned

Hi. I've had night sweats occasionally for two years with increased heart rate. My whole body is dripping. Lately (past three nights) it has been just sweat around my heart area. In between these episodes I will have nights with nothing or nights with a racing heart that will wake me up and then it will take a while for the heart rate to go back down. This morning I noticed a small bulge on the side of my neck. I'm in great shape. 5'8" and 150lbs. I just got back from Yoga Teacher Training.

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
night sweats, increased heart rate and budging on the side of neck suggests two things that must be ruled out. 1- Congestive Heart Failure 2-Hyperthyroidism.
You are advised to visit your doctor and get chest x-ray, ECG, serum TSH,T3 &T4.
Avoid any kind of stress
Hope it helps.
Take Care!

Ayurveda Specialist Dr. Munish Sood's  Response
1. Nocturnal hyperhidrosis (night sweat) with tachycardia (increased heart rate) for two years:
i. STRESS/ANXIETY is the most common cause, causing release of Adrenaline resulting in sweating and increased heart rate., any emotional stress or JOB Pressure??
ii. Use of garlic, spicy food, alcohol, 1 hour prior to bed time, also result in night sweats and fast heart rate.
iii.consider asking your doctor about testing for additional medical conditions like tuberculosis, Lymphoma (swelling as said by you), hyperthyroidism, endocarditis.
iv. check your Magnesium, Vit. B12 and ferittin level, and relevant investigations after consulting with your Doctor.
