My Daughter Frequent Recurring Fever.

Hello, my daughter is 5 years old, she had a bad cold about 3 weeks ago, has had a recurring cough ever since, 3 days ago she became listless, very pale and has had a mild to moderate fever. She seems very ill and listless for hours then seems well enough to play for awhile or eat, then she needs to lie down again with a blanket as she keeps getting chills. Her hands and arms feel very hot but taking her temperature by armpit with a digital thermometer varies between 38.3 to 38.8 degrees. She seems to be sleeping alot, all night long as well as twice during the day, she is very white and has dark circles under her eyes. She has also complained of a sore neck (this is not a constant problem) but usually after she s been lying down for awhile it tends to feel better after a few minutes, and she s mentioned her tummy hurts but she can t say exactly where. I ve only been giving her some children s motrin once a day as she complains of a sore throat as well. Should I be more concerned and take her to a walk-in clinic or hospital ? Or does this sound like just a virus that will go away? Thank you, Leah

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist Dr. Naveen Kumar Nanjasetty's  Response
Hi Leah,

Why are you delaying? You need to consult your child specialist as soon as possible. She can be having pneumonia or any other medical conditions (such as lymphomas). Act fast, do not neglect.

Regards
