Large purple bruise below the thumb, sore throat and blocked nose, are they related ?

I have noticed this morning a large bruise that has come up on the palm of my hand on the fatty bit below the thumb . I haven t knocked my hand and cannot think of an explination for this bruise. I also recently had a simlar bruise appear on the back of my leg just behind the knee . Again it was unexplained and the bruise was large and almost purple in colour. I am 24 and healthy and do not take any medications. I also noted that I have recently been feeling very tired despite getting plently of sleep and have been suffering with a blocked nose and sore throat for some weeks and didnt know if the two things are related?

Hello there,
There are many causes for a bruise to appear; like
certain medications which interfere with the clotting mechanism like aspirin, warfarin etc,
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura,
Liver disorders like cirrhosis etc. In your case, history of trauma , drug intake is ruled out.
Any history of fever , night sweats or unexplained weight loss?
Any history of bleeding disorders in the family?
Any history of thyroid disorders?
I would suggest you visit your physician and get yourself examined and investigated. Investigations like CBC (complete blood count),Hemoglobin, RBC, WBC,TC, DC, ESR, PLATELET count, BLEEDING TIME, CLOTTING TIME, PROTHROMBIN TIME(PT/INR), LIVER FUNCTION TEST.
At this point I don't think the bruise, sorethroat and blocked nose are related. I think after the investigation results, we might be able to come to a diagnosis. For the blocked nose and sorethroat, you could try warm saline gargles, drink plenty of warm water, Steam inhalation.
Hope this helps. Get well soon :)
